The Edmonds Block Party: Fueling the Heart of Our Community
Innagural "Edmonds Block Party” weekend (Formerly “Taste Edmonds”)
If you’ve ever stood shoulder-to-shoulder with neighbors during the Tree Lighting, waved to the marching bands at the 4th of July Parade, admired the classics at the Car Show, or watched kids collect candy during downtown Trick-or-Treat, you’ve experienced the magic of our Very Edmonds community events.
What many people don’t realize is that these free events—the ones that knit us together as friends and neighbors—are made possible by our local business community through the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is the beating heart behind our most treasured traditions, and the Edmonds Block Party (formerly Taste Edmonds) is the single largest fundraiser that keeps them going strong.
This year, the Block Party took place at the newly renovated Civic Field in the heart of downtown. For $25, you could enjoy a full day of live music, great food and drink, and the company of friends and neighbors. A two-day pass was just $45—an incredible value when you consider that those ticket sales help cover a year’s worth of community joy. The proceeds fund the Chamber’s work and the beloved events we all look forward to year after year.
Pouring for a Purpose
Manning the beer tent all weekend alongside amazing volunteers — pouring pints, meeting fantastic attendees, and enjoying incredible live music. A winning combo!
As someone who had the honor of serving as Board Chair of the Edmonds Chamber for two years—and who continues to serve on its Board of Directors—I’ve seen firsthand how much our small business community gives back. They do it not just to promote their own success, but to keep Edmonds vibrant, connected, and thriving.
Unlike some towns where “out-of-town” ownership can mean less local investment, Edmonds is fortunate to have business owners who live here, work here, and care deeply about our community. They sponsor events, donate to fundraisers, and show up for causes large and small. As a City Council member, I will always stand with these local businesses and work to protect the character and personality of our historic downtown and neighborhood commercial districts.
That means saying no to “growth for growth’s sake” that risks erasing what makes Edmonds special. Instead, we need smart growth—thoughtful economic development strategies that help under-served neighborhoods attract the kind of “Edmonds-style” businesses that add character, improve infrastructure, and bring more community presence to areas that need it most. More positive activity means fewer opportunities for the kinds of issues that come when neighborhoods are neglected.
I’m running for City Council because I’m all in for Edmonds. I live here. I’m raising my two kids in the Edmonds School District. My husband and I own two local businesses. And I have had the privilege of helping lead an organization—the Edmonds Chamber—that truly knows what it means to have an Edmonds Kind of Day.
Thank you for your vote of confidence in the Primary. Now, onward to November! Together, we’ll keep our community vibrant, welcoming, and uniquely Edmonds.
We’ve got this!
