Meet Erika

I’m Erika Barnett—an Edmonds mom, business owner, and longtime community advocate. My roots in Edmonds run deep. I live here, raise my kids here, and run a small business that supports over 40 local jobs and helps keep our downtown vibrant.

My husband Jeff and I own Salish Sea Brewing Company, including both our downtown brewpub and the Boathouse Taproom, we’ve worked hard to create spaces that bring people together. Whether it’s enjoying a locally made beer, attending a live music night, or celebrating a community event, our business has become a gathering place—and a driver of economic vitality—for the city we love. We actively support other local businesses, promote the arts, and regularly donate to youth programs, auctions, and fundraisers across Edmonds.

Alongside building the brewery, I led global marketing and business strategy teams for companies like Microsoft, Young & Rubicam, and Wunderman. My background in strategic planning, operations, and communications helps me understand how to balance big-picture thinking with hands-on execution—skills I’m eager to apply to the city’s current challenges, from budget management to responsible growth planning.

I’m also a proud Edmonds soccer mom with two school-age children in the Edmonds School District. Over the years, I’ve served on PTA boards, volunteered at school events, and helped raise funds to support everything from classroom enrichment to the arts. Through our business, we sponsor and support local organizations like Pacific Little League, the Boys & Girls Club, and Sno-King Youth Sports.

I believe in a thoughtful, collaborative approach to leadership—one rooted in listening, transparency, and respect. I’m running for Edmonds City Council because I care deeply about our future. I want to ensure we grow in a way that keeps our small-town charm, supports our people, protects our natural surroundings, and strengthens our city for generations to come.

Let’s stay connected!

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
