Full Statement from Councilmember-Elect Erika Barnett

Thank you to Alex Newman for his gracious call this evening. I appreciate the respect and positivity he brought to this race, and I know he will continue to be a constructive voice in our community.

To everyone who voted — whether you supported me or supported Alex — thank you for participating. (Edmonds had the highest voter turnout in the county at 57.7%!) Edmonds is strongest when more people engage, ask questions, and share their perspectives.

I am honored to serve as your next City Councilmember for Position 3. We have important work ahead of us, from bringing greater fiscal responsibility and transparency to City Hall, to strengthening public safety, to protecting the quality of life that makes Edmonds special. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work with our residents, staff, and fellow councilmembers.
